When most people think about accommodating people with disabilities in their business they get a scared feeling in their gut and their mind scrambles to search for that all-important date when the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) went into effect. It doesnt have to be that way! When business owners open their eyes and start to realize that there are literally billions of dollars to be made in the accessible travel market, I believe we will start to remove the fear associated with the ADA.

There are currently more than 50 million people with disabilities in the United States and 180 million worldwide, representing the single largest untapped tourist market in the world. According to a recent Harris Poll conducted in conjunction with the Open Doors Organization and the Travel Industry Association of America, the 50 million people with disabilities in our country have a combined income of more than $175 billion. In 2002, these people took 32 million trips and spent more than $13.6 billion on travel ($4.2 billion on hotels, $3.3 billion on airfare, $2.7 billion on food and beverage, and $3.4 billion on retail, transportation, and other activities). This study suggested that these travelers would double their spending if some minor amenities were made available. Meet and greet programs at airports, preferred seating on airplanes, hotel rooms closer to amenities, and employees who go out of their way to accommodate guests with disabilities topped the list.

The current trends in adaptive travel show most of these travelers taking advantage of destinations that they know are already accessible such as cruise ships, Florida, and Las Vegas. The visitors bureaus and businesses at these destinations that have gone to great lengths to ensure their visitors that there will not be any accessibility issues during their stay. From personal experience and years of traveling in a wheelchair, I can guarantee that these locations have built and will continue to build strong relationships with travelers with disabilities. This group is a very loyal one, who will often return to the same city, hotel, or activity provider year after year if they have a good experience. If everyone were to catch on to this we would see growth in the tourism industry like we have never seen!

With this in mind, it is a wonder that more business owners have not taken steps to make their accommodations more accessible and even start marketing to these travelers. If the staggering numbers listed above arent proof enough, the U.S. Census Bureau recently stated that nearly 16.5% of all people with disabilities in the U.S. leave their home two days per week or less. That constitutes nearly 11 million people that are not traveling at all. Also keep in mind that there are millions of people in their golden years that are looking for accessible travel accommodations. Many of these people use canes or walkers, travel with oxygen tanks, or have other mobility impairments, and are not included in disability statistics.

With millions of people in need of accessible travel options, and with our Baby Boomers (almost 25% of our population) starting to reach retirement age as well now is the time to start thinking about improving marketing efforts to include people with disabilities and about better overall accessibility in general. By educating business owners on the benefits of marketing to people with disabilities and educating travel agents who are fighting a losing battle with the internet, we can begin to focus on this new target market.

If you want to take advantage of the rapidly growing adaptive travel market, get started now! I recommend hiring an expert to get your business rated and start removing barriers to access as soon as possible. Think about accessibility anytime youre planning a remodel or addition. These improvements will benefit everyone, not just people with disabilities. For those of you who have already taken steps to improve accessibility, start bragging about it.

1. If youre 55 or older, you can get senior citizen discounts.

2. If you belong to American Automobile Association or American Association Of Retired Persons, you can get a discount.

3. Buy One-Get One fares are often offered. You buy your ticket and bring another person along for the ride. Or better yet, split the cost of the fare and you both travel at a 50% discount.

4. Added Value or Free Days. You book a 7-day cruise and get 3 days free or free shore excursions, as well as pre or post cruise hotel rooms.

5. Flat fare specials are one fixed price for the best available cabin at the time of booking.

6. Share a cabin with friends, another couple or two family members and you could easily end up cruising for free. This fare package can also be cut four ways - reducing the burden on all. You will be sleeping in head over bunks that are comfortable, so consider this strategy. Just make sure everyone gets along.

7. You should check into airfares at reduced rates offered by your cruise line to get you to your embarkation site.

8. How about an upgrade? Better cabins, discounted certificates, 10-40 percent savings off advertised prices may all be offered by your cruise line through their respective newsletters.

9. The early bird still gets the cruise, just like with the airlines. If youre a good long-range planner, then you can save mucho dinero. The earlier you book your cruise - the more you save. Typically 10 - 40%.

10. If you belong to an association, organization, if you have a wedding party, family reunion, belong to a church group or are planning a corporate outing you can get a hefty group discount. As always, dont be afraid to ask!

11. Stand by! Yes, it happens with cruise ships too. Typically youre notified three weeks prior to departure if there is space. Late notice like this means you get a nice discount fare.

Bonus Tip:
Did you know that the best cabins to avoid seasickness in are the lower and middle deck cabins? There is more stability here than the pricey upper cabins! Just make sure youre not placed under the Disco, in high traffic areas, or near the engine room. Diesel powered ships vibrate near the stern (rear) of the ship and passenger cabins near the bow (front) may subject you to hearing the anchor raise and lower.

For the latest deals on airline tickets please see my website at http://www.vegaskyle.com/airline

There are so many airlines and so many online websites selling tickets that the prospect of buying the perfect ticket at the right price seems daunting. When you look at the entire picture, it does seem overwhelming but if you break the task up into small and manageable pieces you are sure to get the best price possible on the airline ticket that you want.

Most importantly- you can save money on your airline tickets without having to rely on airfare price wars or on travel agents. The first thing you need to understand is that prices depend on three factors. Supply, demand, and competition. These are the same market forces that affect prices in the rest of the real world.

What increases prices? A decrease in supply, an increase in demand, or a decrease in competition.

On the flip side, prices decrease when there is an increase in supply, a decrease in demand, or an increase in competition.

So, here are some secrets…

Call the airline directly just after midnight during the week. First, there are few people calling at that time of night. Second, the price changes almost always take effect at midnight. This isn’t as true as it used to be but sometimes still effective. The internet has caused the airlines to be more efficient at changing airline prices.

If you have other airports nearby consider using them. This works not only for destinations but also arrivals. But, consider all costs involved (parking, cab fare, and of course, your time.

Book your flights as soon as your travel plans can be finalized. By doing so, you give yourself more options. Some tickets may be non-refundable so check all of the fine print.

If you find an inefficiency—Where one site is offering the same flight for less than other sites then you need to jump on the flight and purchase it now before the inefficiency goes away. How does this happen? There are 4 different central reservation systems that various airlines use. They all update at different times so therefore inefficiencies do often happen.

But, great deals can also be obtained at the last minute. Once an aircraft has left the airport the empty seat is worthless so sometimes airlines will, in fact, reward procrastinators for booking their flight at the last minute. Often, you must be much more flexible in your travel plans.

Mid-week travel is often cheaper than beginning and end of week travel. Wednesday is typically the cheapest day to travel followed by Tuesday and Thursday.

Seasoned travelers may consider the use of split tickets or one-way tickets to save money. Sometimes, a one way ticket to your destination and a one way ticket from your destination is cheaper than the original round-trip. Or, a split ticket can be used. For example you might fly from your airport to some intermediary city then from that city to your destination. This often works better when you can fly into an airline’s hub.

Your age can play a factor in airline discounts. Ask for student or senior citizen discounts. What is the worst thing that can happen? In some cases, just one member of the party needs to qualify for everyone to get the special price.

Military discounts are also a possibility if you or a family member serves in the military.

Do not be afraid to use the internet to search for the cheapest flights available. One caveat, not all airlines appear at all internet search sites. In fact, Southwest appears at none of them. So, if you are using an internet search engine like Travelocity or Expedia you will want to get their lowest price then compare it to Southwest.

Here is what I often do. First, I check airline prices on Travelocity, then compare it to Orbitz, and then to Expedia. If I feel adventurous, I go to Priceline and attempt a cheaper price there. If unsuccessful, I continue by checking the airline website to ensure it is the best deal. You would want to check independent airlines like AirTran and Southwest If you would want to fly them as well.

If you have some time to book your airline ticket you can watch the Sunday edition of a local paper near an airport for advertisements from “Bucket Shops” or “Charters”.

Bucket Shops buy seats from airlnes that are going to be unsold at a severe discount. They in turn try to fill them at a profit. A charter company might actually book an entire flight and crew for their own customers and hope to fill the plane. The downside is that they are much quicker to cancel a flight that is undersold leaving the customers with no way to reach their destination.

Some additional tips once your flight is booked.

Get extra leg room by flying in the emergency row. Of course, you must be willing to assist in the event of an emergency. Get BUMPED! I love to get bumped from an oversold flight if I am not in a hurry. The compensation can range from cash to a free room or airline ticket voucher or even a free meal. It is a great way to get something for just some of your time. Travel as light as possible. Traveling light allows you to be more flexible if you need to change flights or get bumped. Check into first-class upgrades. Sometimes, these can be bought for just $25! Remember, asking is a no-obligation question. If the price is too high, just pass. If there is a problem at the airport, use a cell phone or pay phone to call the airline’s central reservations center. It will be quicker than waiting in line with a whole plane full of angry passengers and only two clerks.

Between paying for the wedding and setting up a new household, many couples find theres not much money left in their budget for the honeymoon. But who says you have to spend a fortune to enjoy a romantic honeymoon at your dream destination? Here are eight ideas for a more affordable, yet still romantic, honeymoon.

1. Ask for the gift of a honeymoon
You can defray the cost of your honeymoon, or perhaps even cover the cost entirely, by listing it on a honeymoon gift registry. A honeymoon registry works just like a wedding registry, but instead of buying you china your wedding guests buy you a trip to China (or the honeymoon destination of your choice). Yes, your guests could just contribute cash toward your honeymoon, but giving a particular portion of the honeymoon (dinner at a fancy restaurant, or a carriage ride through the historic district of a far-off city, for example) is somehow more meaningful. Youll find a number of honeymoon registries online; theBigDay.com and theHoneymoon.com are two of the most established.

2. Exchange homes
If you prefer to mingle with the locals rather than other tourists, look into a home exchange for your honeymoon. In a nutshell, you go stay in someone elses house while they stay in yours. Sound risky? Maybebut tens of thousands of people have exchanged homes since the 1950s. For an annual membership fee (usually around $50), home exchange clubs open the door to thousands of people from around the world who are interested in swapping homes. You could probably find a home exchange partner on your own, but the home exchange clubs offer tools to help the exchange goes smoothly. According to ExchangeHomes.com, a home exchange can cut your travel costs by as much as half. More importantly, though, youll get to live like locals, and perhaps make life-long friends.

3. Rely on the hospitality of others
Hospitality clubs can hook you up with people who are willing to host you in their private homes; the largest such club has more than 23,000 members in 148 countries. Membership is usually free, although youre asked to provide hospitality to others (on a voluntary basis) sometime in the future. In addition to saving you money, its a great way to meet locals who can give you an insiders perspective on your honeymoon destination. Other places you can look for free or reduced-cost accommodations include hostels (theyre not just for the young and single anymore) and monasteries and convents, some of which open their doors to guests for little or no charge.

4. Win a free honeymoon
“Nothing in life is free”unless you win a free honeymoon vacation in a promotional sweepstakes or contest. Quite a few travel agencies and other companies run contests giving away honeymoon vacations as a way of promoting their services.
The odds of winning a free honeymoon may be remote, but the cost of entering is usually just the time you spend searching the web for honeymoon contest and filling out online entry forms.

5. Go camping
Firelight and shooting stars every night . . . breathtaking natural beauty . . . snuggling with your honey in a cocoon of zipped-together sleeping bags . . . . Yes, camping can be romantic, as long youre well prepared and have the right equipment (warm sleeping bags, a comfortable mattress pad, and a waterproof tent are a must). Plus, its pretty cheap–$10 to $20 per night at most locations. Its even cheaper if you cook your own food. You can mix a few nights of camping with a few nights in hotels to make your honeymoon more affordable. And dont overlook the rustic (but cheap) cabins available for rent at many state and national parks. Some even offer a honeymoon cabin!

6. Travel in the off season
It may be obvious to seasoned travelers, but those with less experience may not be aware of how affordable it can be to honeymoon in the off season: basically, any time other than when most people travel to your destination. Certain destinations accommodation and airfare prices may be slashed by 30 percent or more during the off-season compared to the peak travel season. Traveling in the off season doesnt necessarily mean enduring wintry weather. Fall and spring usually offer discounted rates as well.

7. Consider your airline alternatives
When booking airfare online, dont overlook the discount airlines (Southwest, Song, jetBlue, and so on); some are not listed on the big travel portal websites, even though they might have a lower fare to your destination. Also be sure to compare rates for alternate airports within a reasonable traveling distance. You might live half an hour from a major airport, but the smaller airport a couple hours away might have substantially lower fares, perhaps saving you hundreds of dollars. Finally, be flexible about your arrival and departure dates; the major travel portals all have options to search for the cheapest flights within a range of dates. Any one of these alternatives could potentially save you hundreds of dollars.

8. Check budget travel newsletters
If youre not picky about where you honeymoon, you can probably cash in on promotional deals offering deep discounts on airfare and lodgingif you know about them. To stay abreast of the latest offers, sign up with as many free budget travel newsletters as you can. Start by signing up with the budget travel newsletters offered by Frommers.com, About.com, and MSNBC.

The newest media wave to hit the online shore is video. Individual emails abound with links to “the funniest video ever,” or blurry clips of new babies or birthday parties.

Businesses, on the other hand, have largely been left standing on the shore, scratching their heads and wondering if there’s any real value to be earned from diving into making their own live video broadcasts, video emails or video on demand infommercials. Here are just five of the many ways video adds to the bottom line of any company.

1. People remember more of your message

While people generally remember 10% of what they read and 20% of what they hear. But, they’ll remember as much as 50% of what they see and hear together. Before anyone can act on your message, they need to process and remember it.

2. Increase responses by up to 30%

A call to action is much easier to follow if it is actively delivered. Sound and motion are powerful action drivers, especially when they are delivered by your sincere enthusiasm and passion for your topic. Companies who have made the switch to video email and on- demand broadcasts have reported response rates jump as much as 30% following a broadcast.

3. Build your credibility

People do business with people they know, like and trust. When you cut through the technological barriers of the Internet and put yourself online, you put “your self on the line” as far as viewers are concerned. The time it would normally take you to build a relationship with a potential customer can be dramatically shortened as a result.

4. The cost savings are obvious

Anytime you can avoid the high costs of sending someone on the road to meet with clients or attend a meeting, the bottom line savings are immediate and obvious. In addition to any costs associated with attending a meeting, you need to factor in travel costs covering airfares to taxis and tolls, hotel costs, meal expenses, and even your internal costs to process the expense paperwork.

5. Soft cost savings multiply returns

Spare yourself the productivity drain and the physical and mental tolls travel takes on your company’s road warriors and you could enjoy “soft” cost savings that dwarf your hard dollar travel costs. Want an example? Look at your own calendar for the past month and count up just the hours you spent traveling to and from meetings. Multiply that by your hourly wage, and then by the number of employees in your firm.

If reasons like these don’t help you convince the reluctant decision makers in your company to add video to your communications mix, please be patient with them. Historically they are in good company. There were many who claimed the smeary images on hard to handle rolls of paper called “faxes” could never function in place of an original document. And who, they asked, would ever want to spend more time typing an email message when they could so easily pick up a telephone and place a call?

Travel, Holiday & Flight Discounts - Getting The Best Travel Deals Online

Love to travel? The international traveller has never had it so good in terms of being able to afford to see the world at discounted prices. Sometimes there is a huge over-supply in holidays and this leads to a slash in holiday prices. Below you’re going to learn just how to spot cheap holidays as well as the best places to find them, particularly if youre based in the UK.

Companies That Offer Regular Travel Bargains

Let’s start off with some online companies that have been known to offer good travel discounts. It’s best to keep checking these sites regularly as good offers will get snapped up almost immediately.

http://www.travel-travel.co.uk/latedl.htm - If you can travel within 30 days it’s possible to find some incredibly cheap last minute fares including flights and accommodation. I’ve seen 7 nights including flights and hotel to Ibiza at prices of just 99. Of course Ibiza is not everyones cup of tea - which is why you’ll find equally good deals to Edinburgh, Alicante, Palma, Faro and several other desirable locations. I have also seen 7 nights at a 4 star hotel including flights to Majorca and the Belearics at just 130.

http://www.bargainholidays.com - Very similar to Travel Travel but also includes a host of cheap city breaks.

http://www.holiday-net.com - Again, several travel deals. Also includes properties for sale from abroad.

http://www.airparade.co.uk - Just discounted airfares and holidays to several locations.

http://www.teletextholidays.co.uk/Homepage/Home.aspx - Look around for some excellent last minute offers from hundreds of holiday providers. Some real gems available.

http://www.lastminute.com - One of the more well known online providers but these guys really do provide some very good last minute deals.

http://www.france.cottages.co.uk - Good French packages including cottages and ferry crossing at discounts.

http://www.ferry.co.uk &

http://www.seafrance.com- Good for inexpensive channel crossing deals.

Worldwide - For great deals on world wide flights only offers try these:

European

Discount Hotels

It’s possible to pickup some good discounts on hotels all over the world. Try the following places for European stays in particular:

Also checkout the Formule 1 series for cheap stays in France.

Saving Money On Travel Insurance

In the UK, you can save money on travel insurance simply by picking up discounted travel insurance from the Post Office.

Some Travel Secrets To Get You The Best Prices

Like most things, there are many tricks available to secure the lowest possible fares for flights, hotel and all forms of world travel. Every year there is a huge surplus in flights and holidays. Holiday companies have to estimate how many holidays will be demanded for any particular location and time - they never get it just right. Every year there is a surplus on certain holidays and flights, and if all places haven’t been filled by the final few days, you can pick up some really dramatic discounts.

Flights and accommodation are priced according to supply and demand - and this supply and demand follows a certain pattern. Once you know the situations where supply exceeds demand, and you know the right time to buy, you can save big time. A good example of this are fly by drives to the States - typically mid-November is when the cheapest fly drives are available and you can pick up deals for under 150 for 14 days (I’ve seen them as low as 99). Keep an eye on teletext holidays if you’re interested in this type of deal. If you do not mind coming back on Christmas day you can also find some stunning deals available. This may not be ideal for family trips but certainly for the lone traveller it’s a worthwhile option to check out.

How to spot cheap deals - With a little know how you can really figure out which flights and holidays are likely to be put on special offer as late deals. It all boils down to supply and demand - A good example of this is the late availability deals on teletext. 7 Nights in Lisbon, flights and self catered all included for 79 IF you waited a few days before departure. This was initially offered at 149 a month or so before. But how is it possible to know that the price would come crashing down to just 79? The secret is to contact the company offering the deal and ask them how many seats are left. In the Lisbon case there were just 14 seats booked 5 days prior to departure - there was no chance of this holiday being booked by departure date and the result? A massive discount offered to those who booked at the last minute. This is how the holiday business works and now that you know this you can make incredible savings just by making a few calls on holidays you’re interested in.

Car Hire & Day Trips should always be booked outside your holiday booking company otherwise you’ll almost certainly pay a premium. Usually there are specialist shops in most town centres that have been setup to provide car hire/day trips and you can save quite a lot of money using them.

London Airport Parking - Parking in London & other UK locations can get very expensive. Try London Airport Parking and Airport Parking UK for inexpensive parking options.

I really hope this helps all of you track down some incredible bargains.

Happy Travelling

Generally people deem traveling to be one amongst the most expensive event in their lives. But this can be proved wrong. A little judicious and cautious planning can save tremendous expenditure without compromising significantly on the fun and joy of your trip. There are various ways to do this.

1. What you first need to do is to prepare your budget-how much maximum you can spend on your outing and what is the minimum that you would want to consume.

2. The second best thing would be to choose the season to go. If it is an off-season, dont be reluctant to pack your bags. For during off-season, not much people are traveling to that place. Like winter and rainy seasons are believed to be off seasons for the beach locations. At this time the costs of the hotels, the availability of rooms and reservations etc. all will be conveniently available and that too at remarkably less price.

3. If you traveling domestically, for instance if you are a student willing to enjoy a good and cheap vacation and looking forward for accommodation, the best you can do is to opt for a hostel or pitching up your tent. Tents can be pitched on those recreational grounds that welcome such stays. This saves the huge amount you would have to expend for your stay in a hotel room.

4. Even if you are traveling domestically dont be shy in looking for discounts. There are many off-season discounts available. These are meant to lure customers even in the off-season. Various travel agencies (that offer excellent cheap package tours), hotels, restaurants, shopping malls etc. facilitate such discounts. If you plan to go through a travel agency, ask them about these beneficial discounts and do avail them.

5. If you think that distance can be commuted by a car and you do not require any travel agency then prefer to take your own car. Rented car can be a little more expensive. Try to work upon and minimize the consumption of gasoline (like less of air conditioner and excess speed etc.). For gasoline is costly and the cost varies from state to state. However, the best means to travel domestically is to catch up a bus or train. For that saves you from the weariness of driving and the expense of gasoline as well as the one for the wear and tear of your car.

6. If you propose to make a move internationally i.e. to take a destination abroad, the finest thing would be have a travel agent. An agent can help you in many ways. Ask your agent to go for those airlines that offer a good discount and offers like booking your lodging etc. Try not to make any last minute reservations for they are most often costly and you may not even find a seat.

7. You can also search the Internet for various airfares once you decide upon the dates to travel. Internet search can be very valuable in finding a suitable accommodation and eating joints that fit in your budget. Also try to know something about the domestic life of the place you are heading to. This can save you from many troubles later. Like if you have an idea of some restaurant that is hogged by the local residents, you have made your trip somewhat free of expenditure on food.

8. Last but not the least make sure you go with a travel insurance done. I’ve often used the Net for planning my personal and business trips. Trips to Australia, Hawaii, Seattle and Las Vegas, to name a few, are a cinch to plan on the Net… If you know how to go about it. The main problem with the Internet these days is that people often are overwhelmed by information overload.

Many destinations have many sites covering details on vacationing there and Hawaii is no exception. In fact, Hawaii, as a travel destination, is covered by numerous websites covering everything from activities to mountain biking, and snorkeling to luaus. So many sites and so little time.

Thought there are many activities, hotels and ways to get to Hawaii, they are limited and after a while you’ll discover that many sites on the various topics cover the same ground. This is both good and bad: Good, in that you have numerous choices to choose from for look and feel and price. Let’s face it, some sites are easier to navigate than others, while some also have better privacy statements and ease of contact. Also, competition generally keeps prices lower. The bad: Well, there’s just so many choices and one can easily become overwhelmed.

My suggestion here is not to try and visit every Hawaii travel website on the planet, but to check out a few and stick with those you feel at ease with regarding navigation, product, pricing and privacy. There are many excellent
Hawaii travel sites out there, so the first thing to do is to target how you want to get there, where you want to stay and what you actually plan to do once you are there. If you’re like most visitors to the Islands these days, you’ll arrive by air.

If you have frequent flyer accounts, you’ll likely choose one of those airlines, otherwise, leave this open until you have completed some rudimentary pricing. The quickest, but not always the cheapest, is to book a non-stop flight. Cruises from the Mainland are available, but are quite expensive and are generally round trip, round-island cruises, with little time actually on the Islands.

As for your planned activities, once your list is made, I would highly recommend checking out activity agents and when satisfied, book your day tours, dinner cruises and submarine tours, etc. in advance. Why? Well, depending on the season–high or low–some of the more popular activities can book out quickly, leaving you high and dry looking for alternatives. This leads me to: Do you really want to be spending your valuable vacation time calling around to book activities to fill your days with fun, culture and adventure. Also, reserving your activities allows for better insight on itinerary and what your trip to paradise is going to cost. Valuable, if you’re on a tight timetable or budget.

Where to stay… Well many areas have many styles of accommodation, from hotels to cozy bed and breakfasts, to condos to luxury resorts. Oahu’s noted for its tourist hotels and condos in Waikiki to luxury spa resorts. Maui, Kauai and Hawaii have their fair share of luxury resorts and bed and breakfasts.

Once you have your rough general itinerary, it’s now time to search using appropriate terms, such as “hawaii vacation,” “fun things to do in hawaii” and “hawaii airfare,” etc. Line up 3 to 5 good sites for each topic–some sites will cover them all–and then start clicking. Explore each site to sort out the better from the good and keep your eyes open for any travel, accommodation or activity options you may have missed when composing your itinerary. Add these items to your list and keep clicking.

After spending “quality” time with your long list, it’s now time to decide which one(s) you feel most at ease with. These are the ones you should use for planning and booking your vacation necessities. If unsure about a few, send off a question by email or phone. You can tell a lot about a company on how they respond, if they respond. Obviously, if some don’t respond or respond inappropriately, drop them from your list… You don’t need the aggravation.

Now, get serious about planning and booking your itinerary. If you have a problem offering your credit card via the Net, many agents can accept same via telephone. Personally, given the pre-planning above, I, have never had a problem and I’ve ordered thousands of dollars of stuff via the Internet with no problems whatsoever. Given my life in general, I doubt that this has anything to do with luck. Once done, you’ll have a great sense of accomplishment and very likely, a fantastic vacation in paradise. So, get clicking and planning and before you know it, you will have followed all your favorite links to Hawaii… Aloha!

Another year has come and gone, and now you’re planning a 2006 Caribbean holiday vacation to get rid of those winter blues! When considering a winter getaway, an All Inclusive vacation may be your best option if you happen to be on the after Christmas vacation budget.

If you’re new with the vacation terms such as inclusive vacation, all-inclusive, semi-inclusive, EP plan, and vacation packages provided through many Vacation Tour Companies, I will give you a crash course on what the differences are between the packages, and what you would normally expect from each individual holiday plan.

You may be surprised that the All-Inclusive package has a far better value over other package deals! Your budget will determine on what type of vacation package you would opt for, but during the final decisions, you would want to make sure you get the best value for your dollars spent.

European Package: Also known as the EP Plan, this is your most basic vacation package that only offers your hotel accommodations, airfare, and in most cases transfers to your destination of choice. Your meals, drinks, snacks and gratuities are additional, so unless you happen to be very good with budgeting, and watching your spending during the time you’re at destination, then I would suggest you stay away from this plan unless you find a price you just can’t refuse, but then I would still want to do a cost comparison.

Semi-Inclusive Package: Many vacationers get this term confused with the All-Inclusive, and the package price difference can be quiet substantial. This is why when you read the brochures, this may be easily overlooked, and before you know it, your holiday that you booked becomes more expensive than you originally imagined.

It’s always in your best interest to read all the fine print whether out of the brochure, or online information. The semi-inclusive plan is simply your resort, flight, transfers, and may not include gratuities. This type of package in most cases does not include unlimited beverages, such as pop, coffee, and alcohol, and you would have to pay for most, if not all your water sport activities at your property if available. You will see that a semi-inclusive plan could offer full daily meals, however, in most cases they may only provide breakfast, and/or lunch/dinner, leaving one meal and snacks as an additional expense.

All-Inclusive Package: These resort packages are the best for budgeting, because all your costs are paid up-front, but also be very careful with this plan, and do your research to make sure that what is included is exactly what you’re looking for in your vacation experience.

With this type of plan, you will receive your accommodations, air transportation to your destination, transfers to/from airport, and in some instances gratuities are included. Your daily meals consist of your breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and most plans provide daily snacks. A large number of your water sports and entertainment are included in the price of the package, but I will explain where you may find some differences in these All Inclusive package deals.

Inclusive Hotels, Inclusive Service, And Beach Packages Are Not All Created Equal!

You will find with vacation package deals offering All-Inclusive plans are not all created equal, and in many instances you may think that you paid for everything, and later find out there are additional costs charged for amenities that you thought were in your inclusive service.

It may take a little research, but when you read the details of all the amenities that are offered, you will soon understand why your All-Inclusive package price looks so appealing! Some areas you may witness discrepancies are in your meals, drinks, water sports, and gratuities. These little oversights could be costly, and add up very quickly on the actual price you paid for your vacation. These are items and services you may have not budgeted for, and if not caught prior to booking, can easily put a strain on your holiday experience.

As you go through each of the resort packages available, you will quickly notice that price will be the indicator on what you will be getting, and don’t use the current sale or last minute prices, use the brochure or online gross price. My best advise to you, is to find the holiday package that suites your lifestyle requirements, such as beachfront resort, more A La Carte restaurants versus buffets, and higher star rated properties that offer more amenities such as 24 hour services, fitness clubs, spas, and free bottled water, which is a big oversite by many lower star rated resorts.

After you figured out what you want in your vacation experience, then the next step is to search online for the inclusive information for the resorts that appeal to you most. If you happen to see cheaper deals online, compare the two with the amenities and services offered, and make sure that the property provides everything you are requesting. Do a price comparison, and see what the cost difference is, and this can help you make your final decisions.

Keep in mind that what you budget at home is not going to be the same for your vacation. I always tell people that when you arrive at your desired vacation destination, your current budget goes right out the window! You’re in a different mindset, and when the moment arises you’re more than likely going to be more impulsive, and the normal decisions that you would not make in your everyday life, you will do it on your holidays. Remember, you’re on vacation to have fun, create new experiences, and do things that you would don’t normally do in your everyday life, that’s why they call it a getaway from reality!

You’re going to meet new friends, and they may want you to go out for intimate fancy dinners, and share exciting excursions together. With my experience, the pressure takes a toll on you, and when the pressure is on, the credit cards are pulled out, and the charges add to your vacation expense.

In conclusion, it is better to find a quality four-star resort property that offers a variety of fancy dining in combination with good buffet restaurants. Make sure the drinks such as pop, coffee, liquor, beer, and wine is available to you 24 hours a day with unlimited availability, and also see that water sports and entertainment is included with no additional fees charged.

My last suggestion is that you find a package that also offers all gratuities, because when you get to your resort, you are going to be overwhelmed with their service and amenities, which will have you dishing out more in tips than you budgeted for in the beginning. These are a few of the small expenses that wind up making your great All Inclusive deal turn into a costly holiday that you never expected in the beginning.

How to Get Jetlag-free Travel

People who travel a lot experience jetlag. Athletes, who travel to different countries for their tournament, attribute their poor performance on jetlag. Business people, who go to various places for business meetings and other matters, hold jetlags as accountable for their bad days. This goes to show that jetlag affects not only the physical condition of the body but the entirety of an individual.

Jetlag, basically, refers to condition of the body being disoriented. More often than not, jetlags are a result of crossing time zones which affects the internal body clock of an individual. Some of the common symptoms of jetlag are inability to sleep at night, loss of drive, malaise, tiredness, inability to concentrate, and headaches.

Generally, the severity of jetlags is dependent on the direction of the travel. Most experts say that the occurrences of jetlags are lesser when people travel westward than eastward. This is because the body rhythm is extended up to 27 hours when a person flies westward. In turn, the body is able to catch up with whatever changes in the environment

Moreover, the so-called “circadian rhythm” is greater than 24 hours when a person travels westward. This is because the time of the day is lengthened, thus, giving more time for the body to adjust.

In reality, there are no quick fixes to “cure” the signs of jetlags. However, there are ways to deal with it so as to start healthier in the new environment.

Here’s how:

1. Staying outside during the day is recommended to cope up with jetlags. This is because the person’s body clock will be able to adjust at a faster rate if it will become accustomed to the new surroundings. Usually, natural light aids in coping up with jetlags.

2. It would be better for a person to adjust their bedtime schedules so as to prevent the severity of jetlags. In this way, their body clock will be able to cope up with the changes in the time setting.

3. It is best if people will start eating, sleeping, and doing their usual activities patterned to the local time setting of the new place and not from the usual time they do it back home.

4. For people who travel because of some important event like the athletes or the entrepreneurs, it is best if they travel way ahead of time to their event schedules. This is to give them more time to adjust and get accustomed of the area.

So, jetlags are not so much of a problem. It is just a matter of adjustment and coping up. After which, people can now enjoy the new scenery.
